The company's research and development of technologies and numerous patents began in 1998, when the founders internally launched the fingerprint algorithm applied to PCSecurity and identity authentication. ZKTeco currently has several research, engineering, design and innovation centres located in Silicon Valley, Europe, South Korea, Xiamen, Dalian, Shenzhen and Hangzhou with a total of 3500 employees, 1000 of whom work in the R&D team.
